Uganda Gamatui Natural - Black & White Coffee Roasters (Raleigh, NC, USA)

Black & White has been buying from the Gamatui community in Uganda for over half a decade. The Gamatui community is known for producing distinctly grape-forward coffees. Not wine-like or fermented, actual grapes! Fresh red grapes, grape juice, grape candy. It's a rare flavour profile and the main reason Black & White returns to this coffee every year. This season's lot delivers that grape character alongside powdered sugar sweetness, milk chocolate smoothness, and stone fruit notes like nectarine.

Uganda doesn't get the attention Ethiopia or Kenya do, but coffees like this prove the country deserves more recognition. Clean processing, interesting terroir, and a flavour that stands out in any lineup.

Founded by Lem Butler and Kyle Ramage—the 2016 and 2017 US Barista Champions—Black & White Coffee Roasters started in Raleigh, North Carolina, with a clear goal: make specialty coffee approachable without compromising on quality.

What makes them different? They don't ask you to choose between clean, classic profiles and experimental processing. Black & White sources everything from washed Ethiopians to wild co-ferments, then roasts it all to work as both filter and espresso. Their year-round blends and single origins are built for versatility, whether you're dialling in competition espresso or just want something reliable in your cup every morning.

Roasted on Feb 2, 2026.
